CAT, audio and tuning

A preparation checklist. Exact settings depend on the rig, operating system and application version.

01

Identify the CAT connection.

Identify your radio model and USB/serial connection or backend. Check port, speed and other parameters in the rig manual and Decodium documentation.

02

Verify frequency readback.

Check that the frequency shown in the application matches the radio and updates correctly when tuning. Configure PTT and split according to the supported setup.

03

Select audio inputs and outputs.

Explicitly select the devices connected to the radio. Check receive levels and follow the manual when setting transmit levels to avoid clipping in the audio path.

04

Check the complete system.

Check clock, audio, CAT and logbook before the session. If an error occurs, collect the application version, operating system, rig model and displayed message for a useful report.
